It’s about time for those wonderful evening cruises that the family looks forward to so much. Trouble is, there’s a new member of the family – that puppy grandma bought over the holidays for the kids.

This leaves you with two choices – is your dog going to be one of those go-everywhere with you K-9s or are they going to cuddle up on the end of the bed waiting for their family to come home? Hopefully, you can choose the first option, which makes life more fulfilling for family and pets alike.

Now is the time you should be socializing Fido with other people and animals. New adventures to seemingly places are perfect.

So take the puppy along for their first boat ride to get acclimated to a world on the water. Some dogs are naturals, but don’t force the ones who aren’t.

Despite thinking he’s one tough cookie, Oliver Tolliver (seen as a puppy) actually is a big sissy boy. Our efforts to get him used to the boat – taken slowly and as quietly as possible – just made him more and more nervous.

So he’s not a boat dog and that’s OK.

Hopefully, your new family member takes to it a lot better and is able to enjoy that extra time with their family.
