Most folks in the near future will either keep using their boats for fishing and simply cruising around.
Others will store them away or put them on a trailer until Mother Nature starts to warm things up again.
Winter isn’t going to keep these folks away.
So, for those who continue to play on the water, safety becomes more important than ever.
And a vast majority of those folks have their act together when safety is involved.
But even for them, things happen.
Some of those bad events can end up being not so horrible – like being stuck in the frigid waters that can cause serious problems or take a life.
Say you’re one of the lucky ones and you end up on an isolated beach somewhere – what do you do?
Having a fire can fix a ton of problems and help alert those looking for you. The heat can actually help keep you alive.
Drops of gas on old wood, spark strikers, even matches, all can help start an important process.
And a group of women have started a company that can help even more.
PullStartFire is a small cube you can wedge between a few large pieces of wood. Added small timber will keep the fire burning.
A simple pull of the cord will ignite the starter and get things going. The device is rain-proof and will burn for up to 30 minutes until other wood can catch fire.
It requires no matches or lighters and can put up with some intense wind.
But no matter what you choose to have on hand, make sure it’s in working order and that you have a good way to keep it dry.
Hopefully you’ll never have to use it.
