Shorter days, cooler breezes, kids at school, remarkable sunsets – even time to consider what’s next.

Here’s a hint. Make a few day trips out on the water with your Lynnhaven Marine boat.

There’s plenty to do, even if it’s just a few hours touring the Lynnhaven River or any of the other tidal creeks that cover the area.

There are even places that offer good times with other boaters. Food to eat, drinks to savor, music to dance to.

These are just some of the wonderful things that await local watercraft owners – experiences that make our region so special.

Let’s face it, despite all the trouble in this world, a few hours on the water is a calming influence that can make everything right.

Take a slow course though the Lynnhaven and stop of at one of the several places that offer great food and cocktails, head to Sunset Beach on the southwestern-most tip of the Easter Shore, pop in at Waterside in Norfolk, maybe an overnight stay in Smithfield.

The opportunities are endless.

Time, however, is not. Soon – unless you are a cold-weather-angler – it will be time to winterize the vessel and call it quits until the spring.

Just don’t give up yet.

There’s no counting the amazing memories boaters have experienced this time of year.

So do yourself a huge favor before it gets crazy cold, call the folks who store your boat, have it splashed and enjoy some time away from the daily grind of society.

It’ll do you a world of good. And Lord knows we can all use that.
